Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support
At South Pointe K-8 Schools, Students will feel safe, respected and successful when they exhibit positive behaviors at South Pointe K-8 Schools.
Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) focuses on teaching, supporting and recognizing positive behavior. Through PBIS, students learn the importance of respect, responsibility, safety, and making good choices.

We will use posted expectations to teach and support students to show these behaviors. We will reward our students for following the expectations. Students will have consequences if they are not meeting expectations. We will also look at data to help students be successful.
Studies have shown that using PBIS increases positive behavior, decreases negative behavior and allows for more instructional time.

PBIS at South Pointe
- Posters highlight behavior expectations for every area of the school — classrooms, office, water fountains, cafeteria, restrooms
- All students and staff are taught the school-wide expectations, with regular opportunities to practice and be acknowledged
- Adult contact focuses on positive reinforcement, with a reward system for students who consistently show respect, responsibility, safety and excellent behavior
- Consistent, predictable, fair consequences for all students
- Staff use data to make decisions about school behavior expectations
Griffin MAGIC — Exceeding Expectations! (Class Dojo)
To keep communication consistent between school and home, your teacher reports behavior home daily, covering behavior effort, academic tasks and teacher comments. You can see all your child’s daily behavior interactions and how much is in their bank account.
