Remote Griffin Learning Site
This page is updated with assignments, tasks, classroom links, and homework tips.
Dear Families,
This an unparalleled time that we are currently experiencing. Just know that we are in this together. We recognize how incredibly difficult this situation is for many families. The great team at SPES has been working hard to identify meaningful instructional activities for your child to do while he or she is at home for this extended period of time. Our goal in this work was to provide you with meaningful lessons and activities that are aligned with what your children typically do during the school day. There is nothing we can compare to being in the classroom with day-to-day learning experiences, but we have created plans and opportunities for engagement to make the best of this learning experience. We worked to provide enough materials for each child to be engaged in academic learning for approximately two hours each day.
This web page will serve as our remote "Griffin Learning Site" (GLS). This page is for those parents who elected to use the Paper Assignments. You will be able to access the instructional activities here. We will be updating the links in this Griffin Learning Site once a week or as needed. On the GLS page, you will find "Buttons" to your child's grade level and links with the daily instructional activities for each day. Classroom teachers will be sending out a weekly reminder with updates.
We certainly know there is a lot going on for families right now. If you are not able be able to complete all of the activities given in a day....that is completely fine! Try to complete as much as you can and stick to the daily schedule provided by your teacher. Our intention is just to provide you with resources to keep your children actively learning and prevent regression while they are not coming to school.
If your child experiences any frustration, please feel free to have them contact the Homework Help Line, discontinue the activity for the day or contact the teacher with any concerns. Please start the at-home remote instruction with ease and one lesson at a time. We do not want you or the student(s) to become overwhelmed. You will need to communicate with your child's teacher on a regular basis, by phone, by email and video for daily instructional contact.
We appreciate your partnership as we work through this unknown territory together. Please feel free to reach out to any of our staff members through e-mail if you have any questions or concerns along the way. Your child's learning experience and success is our first priority.
Respectfully,
Delores Jones-Bell
