We have completed the writing portion of the AZ Merit! Woo-hoo! Today was a very long day with very little breaks. Please make sure to give your student a little extra free time to run around outside, since they did not get a chance to run off their energy or exercise at school today. Thank you to all of my amazing parents who have donated snacks for the class during testing!! You all rock! I loved the perfect attendance today! Lets keep it up for the next two weeks as we test so you will not have to make up any tests! Our next test will be reading on Tuesday, April 9th and Wednesday, April 10th. Awesome job and rest up!
Hello again!! As I was updating the class website, I thought to myself, "I wonder if any of my parents read this?" Soooooooo, if you read the website and the blog page, send a note with your student stating you read the page and I will send a little surprise with your student for YOU! :) Just thought this would be fun and keep us all involved!
Also, keep your students reading! This is so awesome to see how many reading logs I am receiving back signed! Please remember that if your student reads to you, LOG IT!! Those points are extra. If you read on the weekend, those points are extra as well! Troy has been killing the reading competition! He has been checking out library books, reading with his parents, and on the weekends, which are all extra points!!!
March is coming to an end which means......... AZ Merit is coming! I will be posting more about AZ Merit Testing next week as our dates get closer. Don't forget to send a note with your student if you read this to receive your surprise!!
Thank you all so much for your support! <3 Ms. Pacheco
IT IS SPRING BREAK!!!!!! THIS YEAR IS FLYING BY! As you all enjoy this spring break, lets keep these minds going! I have sent home a small spring break packet so our students minds do not fall asleep this week! Along with the reading packet, students should be reading and documenting it on their logs. Parents/guardians, these logs require your signature so take look at them. The class with the most amount of minutes read for the month of March will win a class prize. So keep reading! If you have any comments or questions, please comment on this post, I will be happy to answer them! I hope you all enjoy this week off, you deserve it! When we return we have a lot of test prepping to do. The AZ Merit is right around the corner along with the Spring NWEA test. Lets finish these last three months of school strong!
As always, thank you all so much for your support! <3 Ms. Pacheco
HOW IS IT MARCH ALREADY?!?! Wow! Time is really flying by here in 2019. Throughout the month of March, the school is having a reading competition. Students will be given reading logs so they can track how many minutes they are reading outside of school. The reading logs must be singed by parents or they will not be counted for. If students do not have books to read at home, they are more than welcome to check them out of their book boxes with me. The class with the most reading minutes will receive a prize as well as the student who reads the most in the class. Lets Win!!! This week is also spirit week to honor Dr. Seuss. I have posted the spirit week days on the class page just in case your student did not give you the paper with these dates.
Ps: This is the last week of school before spring break. Students will be given a Spring Break packet to complete through the week they are off. This packet will be due on Monday March, 18th. Along with the packet, they will have their reading logs to complete.
As always, thank you so much for your support! <3 Ms. Pacheco
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! Parents and Guardians, you are truly awesome! I know I already sent you an email that stated my gratitude, but I really felt the need to give you a HUGE shout out on the Blog! The parent interview were amazing! Each and every student were SO excited to share their interview to the class. We loved it so much that there will be more. BE READY!! ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A THIRD GRADER?? :)
It's almost time to type! By now, most students have compiled three out of our 6 steps in our writing process. We have been working extremely hard researching all about Jackie Robinson and Oprah. Students have been working on our short research project for a week now. This coming week we will be finishing all 6 steps of the writing process. By Friday we will be printing out our typed version of our research project!! I am so excited to put these papers together and have them ready to be displayed on February 28th for all of you to see.
After we have typed up our research project, we will begin working on our baseball stadiums and jerseys. I can not wait for you to see our projects!
As always, thank you so much for your support! -Ms. Pacheco <3
Hello!! The Black History Month Museum is right around the corner. Ms. Calderwood and I have come up with a skit that we would like to perform at the museum. Your child's attendance will contribute to their grade. I have passed out a sheet that explains what we plan to do on February 6, 2019 to your student. I understand that sometimes backpacks turn into a black hole and things magically disappear so, I will post a copy of the plan on here :). Dear Parents/Guardians: The Black History Month Museum is on February 28, 2019 at 4:30. The third classes decided to collaborate and we will be researching Oprah and Jackie Robinson. We will be coming up with a skit to honor both influential African Americans. For our skit we will have one student to play Oprah and another student to play Jackie Robinson. Oprah will be interviewing Jackie Robinson and the rest of the students will play the audience and will be given the option to ask Jackie Robinson questions. Four other students will be playing a reenactment of his first home run. Along with this skit we will be creating mini baseball stadiums and Jerseys or Oprah’s T.V set. For the stadiums, students will need to bring in:
And any other decorations you believe belong in a baseball stadium.
For Oprah’s T.V. set:
Any other decorations that you believe belong in Oprah’s T.V set.
If you have any questions about our project feel free to reach out to your teacher or refer to our classroom page.
Thank you for your support, Ms.Pacheco & Ms. Calderwood
Hello Everyone! This class has been amazing this past week and continuing into this week. They are all growing so much! They came up with this idea of keeping track of how much respect they give each other all on their own. That is HUGE! WE are going to be tallying how much respect we give one another from now on so look out for these tally marks on our agendas daily!
Updates: Parent Teacher Conferences are on February 7th and 8th. I will be sending sign up sheets with students on January 29th so you can plan in advance. I am really looking forward to meeting with you all and catching up on our student!
Reminders: (1) Please continue, or if you have not done so, take a look at your scholar's agenda. They write in it every day stating what color they landed on for the day as well as the homework for the night. Agendas are another great way we can communicate with any comments or concerns you may have. As always, thank you all so much for your support!
