Good afternoon,
We have been sticking to our Pledge as scholars. Working hard for our children never felt so good. We made it through week one of remote learning. I am so proud of our students, parents, and teachers for working hard with both the on-line and paper packets. Great job everyone!I just wanted to give you a few updates for the week:
School Hours -Our school will only be open for meal distributions on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:30 am-11:30 am. The office phone is available 7:30 am-4:30 pm for incoming calls.
Instructional Update -lease remember that students should complete the practice assignments assigned. This is practice, so parents and older siblings should assist. Every Friday students will receive an assessment. This is a grade and we ask that you please let your child complete the Friday assessment on their own so that the teachers can gauge their progress and determine where they need help. If your child needs additional assistance call the Help-Line and/or set up an individual session with the teacher.
Teacher Instructional time. Some teachers will be changing their instructional hours this week. Please check the email from your teacher with the new link. If you are using a school device, just click the link and get started. If you are using another device, you may need to download Zoom conferencing. This is a free app at no cost to you.
School-time Meals- Meal service will be available seven (7) days a week. Starting this Monday March 30, 2020, South Pointe Elementary School will offer students and families “Grab & Go” meals on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:30 am to 11:30 am. Grab & Go meals will not require preparation and are designed to provide a meal for the day and the following day. Friday's meal will provide food for three days. If you have any questions please call the office.
This week's School Community Activity- We will have a virtual Turn Up Thursday this week. There will be a surprise video for the children from the staff posted to our social pages. We asked that everyone take time out to record their family doing the cupid shuffle. We will use it to create a school-wide video. Here is a how to of the steps: https://youtu.be/5_srg-18Fz0

Dear South Pointe Elementary School Family,
This has been a trying time for our 320 families and employees. After careful consideration of community efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), and out of concern for the health of our students, educators, and families, we have decided to close our campus as of Monday, March 16 for one week. We will update you if there are additional updates.
This is not a decision we have made lightly. Until now, we have been closely monitoring the situation, coordinating with state agencies, working with our governing board and management company, and taking every preventative effort possible to keep our campus both safe and open. Despite having no COVID-19 cases reported by any adults or students on our campus, we believe that waiting for that event would put our school community in an unsafe situation. Our governing board is holding an emergency meeting today to authorize this closure.
We care deeply about how this decision impacts you, your child, and your family. Although this closure is designed to protect the health of all students and educators, we are acutely aware of the challenges this decision presents for you.
In light of these deliberations, we have prepared contingency plans to meet the needs of students. We will continue to provide meals for students who rely on us for lunch or breakfast. Further details about these provisions including scheduling will be forthcoming over the weekend.
Additionally, we will be sending out information about our plans for delivering instruction as we finalize them if our closure lasts for an extended period of time. Our leadership team has been working proactively on plans to implement a remote learning process that will serve our student population.
Our entire staff is committed to the continued success of your student during this unprecedented challenge. If you have any concerns, or if we are able to support you in any way not addressed above, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the school’s main office. We will be strategically staffed during this time to deep-clean the campus, support our students, and prepare for everyone’s safe return to campus.

Respetuosamente,
