South Pointe Elementary School is committed to each student having a strong education foundation and academic achievement. Reading, writing, mathematics and how to socialize appropriately is the focal point of our curriculum. These subjects are emphasized to ensure a good foundation for future learning and academic success.
Reading and Writing, Core Knowledge - Kindergarten-grade 5
Core Knowledge is a rigorous curriculum, a systematic syllabus of topics to be studied by students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Core Knowledge balances the description of academic skills with subject-content knowledge. The Core Knowledge curriculum is meant to equip students with the background knowledge they will need as they enter the more specialized curriculum. Core Knowledge builds a strong foundation from which students can learn, organize, evaluate, and apply new information as they proceed through school. This Courses of study is filled with objectives designed to build students' problem-solving and critical-thinking skills in the classroom and in the real world.
Mathematics Envision Math- Kindergarten-grade 5
EnVisionmath 2020 is a comprehensive K-6 mathematics curriculum focuses on coherence and higher order thinking. This curriculum incorporates visual learning, personalized instruction and problem-based learning to empower and ensure all students are successful. Envision math emphasizes conceptual understanding to help strength struggling student’s ability to think mathematically. It also provides a variety of content, resource, assessments and student data to help differentiate and manage the student’s achievement and development throughout the year. Envision Math is an innovative curriculum design to provide all students the strategies and skills to become mathematical scholars.
Peer and Youth Development (PAYD)
A unique program developed using strategies to develop students abilities to make positive and productive decisions in social situations. Program consists of PATH Lessons, PBIS, Character Counts Lessons and Conscience Discipline,
