About PBISPBIS stands for Positive Behavior Intervention Support. It is a program designed to teach respect, safety, and responsibility, at school. We at SPES hope to encourage students to continuously make good behavioral choices by implementing this program. PBIS provides teachers and other school staff with information to help prevent behavior problems and help make school a safe learning environment.
Research shows that the use of PBIS in schools has resulted in increased time for instruction. In addition, it increases positive behaviors school wide, therefore decreasing disruptive behaviors. |
How does PBIS Work? This is a researched based program and we are excited that we are able to implement this program in our school. Posters that highlight behavior expectations for all areas of the school, from the classrooms, office, water fountains, cafeteria, to the restrooms, will be posted to remind students of what is expected from them in each area. There are rewards for students who are observed consistently showing respect, responsibility, safety and excellent behaviors.
