Homework: -Write a 3 paragraph summary of what happened with the sub. - Math worksheet. -Parent teacher conference form.
Please review with your students the expectations and procedures that are outlined in the student handbook. It seems that having a sub for one day has made them forget that they are expected to be third graders. Yesterday, I had students clipping themselves up to purple or putting them on the student leader board. I had students on youtube instead of doing classwork. They know this behavior is not acceptable. Now that I am back I can say that I have not had this many students on yellow through this entire school year, and it is disappoints me. I was yelled at, and told by students that they will not be doing classwork because their is no reward and it is "boring." I understand that a sub throws them off, but hopefully they will be back to normal tomorrow.
Congratulations Allison and Ben for TYING for Student of the Week. This is the second week that both of them have won. One more week before the final drawing to win some books. Tyrus deserves an honorable mention, since he was just two points behind them.
The home work for the weekend is to log into Study Island that way they can receive some practice over the weekend. Please have them read for at least 30 minutes a night.
I am so glad to be on this education journey with your students. I cannot wait for the what lies a head.
Due to tomorrow being a house meeting day, and the students having a three day weekend, I sent home the math homework today. There is a minimum of three pages per student; however, if your student has been absent the last two weeks, not in class, or not doing their work, I did send home make up work.
I will be collecting the reading logs next week to tally up who our Reading Travelers are. :) This weekend will be the perfect one to get a head on the reading.
Don't forget, you can log into Study Island (the link is on the main web page) any time and do lessons, practice, and play games. It tracks your progress, so the more practice the better.
Congratulations Benjamin for being student of the week. Your name will be going in the drawing for the books at the end of the month.
Well, we had a hard day. So instead of having homework, I think the students need to think about classroom and school expectations and how important it is to follow all of them. A problem we have as a whole class is talking. This is true when other people are up doing their work on the board. We are working on more student lead instruction, and this talking discourages the students who are trying their best. The students also like to talk during announcements, which leaves them lost and without direction. I would love it if this became our class focus for behavior.
If your student is in the spelling bee (Benjamin, Alicya, Zaariyah, Allison, Kaylee), please have them study tomorrow. The spelling bee tomorrow after school, so they do need to study.
Today we sent home a flyer that has all of your parent contact information on it. Please send back that flyer with the correct information. If all is correct, sign it and send it back!
The 100th day of school is coming up on January 23rd. Please dress like they are 100 years old! We are having a student bake off as well. We want to see our parents there.
We are in need of pencils for our class. We also need disinfectant wipes. Please send in any if you can provide them.
I bought 30 new pairs of head phones, as well as 30 little tins to keep them in. If the students break this new form of technology, they will be expected to replace them. The tins all have their names on them to avoid any confusion. :)
